If you are thinking about hosting a lunch time party and need a menu that offers a wide variety of dishes, take a look at this one from a baby shower celebrating a new baby boy.
The menu was for 50 guests and was designed to meet the dietary needs of several in attendance. Fresh salads without meat, sliced turkey without bread, fresh fruit for everyone, and so on. Here is the menu along with some pictures from the event I served it at.

Your kitchen island can be the perfect place for a buffet. In this home I covered the faucet with a sturdy plastic crate and the stove top with plywood. The island was draped with a silky white damask table cloth to hide the temporary structure. Use glass bricks and glass shelves will give the buffet depth and an elegant look.
